石川県金沢市を拠点に、漆器の制作を続ける杉田明彦さんの展覧会を開催いたします。杉田さんの作品には、時を経た古物が纏う静けさと、抽象絵画にも通じる奥行きある質感が宿っています。幾度となく塗りを重ね、研ぎ、また塗り重ねるという果てしない反復の中から、目には見えない時間の層が生まれ、器には静かな深みと気配が立ち上がります。質感、色彩、かたちのひとつひとつに、ものの美しさを探求する哲学が織り込まれています。杉田さんの器は、伝統的な漆の技術を踏まえながらも、過剰な装飾に頼ることなく、漆という素材が持つ本来の力を静かに引き出すような佇まいを見せます。造形は簡潔にして洗練されており、和洋を問わずどのような空間にもすっと溶け込み、日常のなかで自然と手が伸びる存在となるでしょう。本展では、汁椀や皿などの定番の器に加え、一点ものの乾漆作品なども含めて多彩にご紹介いたします。漆器に馴染みのない方にも、ぜひこの機会に杉田さんの作品に触れ、その手触りや質感から、静かに降り積もるような時間と手仕事の深さを感じ取っていただければ幸いです。

We are pleased to present an exhibition of Akihiko Sugita, a lacquerware artist based in Kanazawa City, Ishikawa Prefecture. Sugita’s works carry the quiet stillness of aged antiques and a deep texture reminiscent of abstract paintings. Through repeated layers of coating and polishing, unseen layers of time emerge, giving each piece a calm depth and presence.While rooted in traditional lacquer techniques, his vessels quietly reveal the material’s natural beauty without excessive decoration. Their simple yet refined forms blend seamlessly into any space, inviting everyday use. This exhibition features a variety of works, from classic bowls and plates to unique dry lacquer pieces. We hope this opportunity allows those unfamiliar with lacquerware to experience the subtle richness of Sugita’s craftsmanship and the quiet passage of time it embodies.
