We are pleased to present an exhibition of glass works by Ayumi Shigematsu. After graduating from the Tajimi City Pottery Design and Technical Center, Shigematsu began working with the pâte de verre technique in 2021. By filling plaster molds with finely crushed glass and slowly firing them in a kiln, this technique produces works with a soft luminosity and a remarkable sense of depth. Inspired by flower buds and the gradual unfolding of petals found in everyday life, Shigematsu shapes vessels that capture these natural forms. Light gently filters through the thick glass, revealing subtle contours and delicate shadows within each piece. As the light changes and the works are viewed from different angles, each vessel reveals its own unique character. The exhibition features works inspired by plants, including Chrysanthemum, Camellia, Hydrangea, Dandelion, Japanese Dogwood, and Wood Sorrel. We warmly invite you to visit this first solo exhibition.
