We are pleased to present an exhibition of glass works by Kiyokazu Tsuda. Based in Katsuragi, Nara Prefecture, Tsuda encountered glassblowing while at university and went on to develop his skills at various studios before establishing his own practice in 2008. Working primarily with blown glass, he incorporates a range of techniques, including cutting, faceting, metal leaf, and stone powder, using lines, shadows, and textures that emerge on the surface of the glass as elements of his forms. The refraction of light and subtle shadows created by the contours, thickness, and surface finish of each vessel are unique qualities of glass. Variations in thickness produced during the blowing process, combined with lines and planes created through cutting, give each piece a distinctive character. The exhibition features vessels, sake ware, flower vessels, and lidded pieces, with a focus on works intended for everyday use. We warmly invite you to discover Tsuda’s distinctive approach to bringing out the many expressions of glass.
