We are pleased to present an exhibition of works by Kai Tsujimura, who is based in Sakurai, Nara Prefecture. Born in Nara, Tsujimura studied under the ceramic artist Shiro Tsujimura and established his independent practice in 2000. He now works from his kiln in Sakurai. Working across a range of wares rooted in Japanese ceramic traditions \u2014 including Ido, Shino, Iga, Shigaraki, Karatsu, Kohiki, and Hikidashi-guro \u2014 he creates vessels that embrace the effects of clay and fire. The traces left by the firing process become part of each form, giving every piece a distinct character. His works are valued for the way they hold food and reflect sake, and are used by many chefs today. The exhibition includes everyday vessels as well as flower vases and tea bowls.
