三重県四日市市にて作陶する笹山芳人さんの展覧会を開催いたします。笹山さんは、土鍋の産地として知られる伊賀・丸柱にある窖窯で薪を焚き、焼成を重ねています。焼締めをはじめ、灰釉や化粧土、引き出し黒など多様な技法を取り入れ、土の質感や表情を大切にしながら制作を続けています。土が手元に届き、それに見合う形を模索するという姿勢の中で、産地名や技法にとらわれることなく、ひとつひとつの器が生まれていきます。作為の奥にひそむ静かな気配を、どうぞご覧ください。

We are pleased to announce an exhibition featuring Yoshito Sasayama, a potter working in Yokkaichi City, Mie Prefecture. Mr. Sasayama fires his pieces using a traditional anagama kiln fueled by wood in Maruhashi, Iga—an area known for its donabe (earthenware pots) production. Incorporating a variety of techniques such as yakishime (un-glazed firing), ash glaze, slip decoration, and hikidashi-kuro (a type of black finish), he continues to create works that emphasize the texture and expression of the clay. With a mindset of exploring forms that suit the clay once it reaches his hands, each piece is born free from constraints of region or technique.
