We are pleased to present an exhibition of Shigeyoshi Morioka, who produces vessels fired in a wood-fired kiln in Amano, Wakayama. He consistently carries out all the processes involved in the production of his vessels by himself, starting with the collection of clay and glaze materials, firing the kiln for 10 days, and chopping the wood for the kiln. The vessels, fired at low temperatures, have deep colors, a simple strength, and the life force of nature. in addition to Nanban-yaki (Southern Barbarian style) ceramics made from Tanegashima clay, there will be a wide variety of everyday items such as rice bowls, sake bottles, and teapots on display.
