We are pleased to announce the exhibition of Yoji Yamada, a ceramic artist from Shigaraki, known for his work with slipware. Yamada studied ceramics in the UK, the birthplace of slipware, and began creating his own works after returning to his hometown of Shigaraki. In addition to traditional ovenware, he has developed a unique style using Shigaraki clay, known as “unglazed slip”, and continues to create a diverse range of pieces suited to modern Japanese dining tables. Each piece features dynamic patterns, each drawn freely by his hand, ensuring that no two are alike. His work always brings new surprises and deep impressions. For this exhibition, a variety of works will be on display, with a focus on everyday items such as plates and bowls.
