We are pleased to present an exhibition of lacquerware by Tomoaki Nakano, a master craftsman from Sabae City, Fukui Prefecture. Building on the traditional craft of Echizen lacquerware passed down from his father, Mr. Nakano oversees every stage of production himself, from undercoating to finishing. His exceptional skill and rhythmic, precise technique are evident in the smoothness, subtle luster, and refined tactile quality of each piece, giving them a gentle, elegant presence. This exhibition features his new work, the “Yotsu-wan” (set of four bowls), along with his classic bowls, plates, trays, and celebratory items such as tiered boxes for special occasions. These lacquerware pieces, designed to accompany daily life, deepen in character and beauty with use. We invite you to experience them firsthand, and to enjoy the pleasure of living with objects that grow richer over time.
