展覧会｜京都　「中里 隆　陶磁器展」開催のお知らせ。

日本陶芸界のみならず海外陶芸界においてもやきものの価値とその魅力を広く伝える中里隆氏。中里氏は、九州・佐賀県のやきものである唐津焼をルーツとしながら、国内外を自由に行き来し、その土地での素材を使い、自由な感性で作陶を続ける作り手です。その作品は、いずれも巧みな作陶技術によって生まれる伸び伸びとした形、釉や焼きによる質感など、やきものならではの魅力を湛えています。
唐津の名門陶家、中里太郎右衛門窯十二代目当主（号：無庵、1895～1985）の五男として生まれた中里は、青年期に京都や唐津で作陶を学ぶと、1971年には種子島に渡り、島の土による種子島焼を手がけます。帰郷後、自身の「隆太窯」を築窯し拠点とすると、全国各地に旅をし、陶芸の技によって人との交流を深め、出会いや学びを楽しみながら創作を行ってきました。海外の土や釉など、現地の素材を活かしながらも、空間を飾り、手で触れ、用いることに喜びを見出してきた日本のやきものの原点である「器」に礎を置く中里作品は、作陶の初期から現在まで半世紀以上にわたって多くの人を魅了してきました。
本展では京都やまほん10周年を記念しまして、今年84才を迎える中里氏に食卓毎に触れる湯呑から選りすぐり84種を出品いただきます。多くの方々に日常の器の魅力を感じて頂ける機会となれば幸いです。どうぞご高覧ください。

TAKASHI NAKAZATO is a master potter who brings the value and the charm of pottery to the ceramic art industry both in Japan as well overseas.
NAKAZATO, having his roots in Karatsu-ware of the Saga’s tradition, located in Saga prefecture, Kyushu, actively travels within and outside Japan, and makes free-style potteries using local materials.
All of his works have charms such as the free and relaxed shape created with his precise technique and the quality and the texture with glaze and firing effects which are the unique elements of pottery making,

Born as the 5th son of the 12th generation owner of the Taroemon Nakazato Kiln (”MUAN”, 1895-1985), a well-known prestigious potter in Karatsu, NAKAZATO studied pottery making in Kyoto and Karatsu during his youth. In 1971, NAKAZATO visited Tanegashima (Kagoshima, Kyushu) and spent several years making his work as Tanegashima-ware using the local clay in Tanegashima.
After returning to Karatsu, NAKAZATO built his own “Ryuta Kiln” as the base for his activity, and then, he traveled all over Japan. Nakazato had met with many people and deepened the relationship using his pottery making skill set, and had built his career with a pleasure of encountering people, and of learning something new while traveling.

NAKAZATO’s work has been fascinating to many people since his early career till the present over half a century. That is because, while he makes use of local materials, such as clay and graze locally available overseas, NAKAZATO’s work is based on the origin of Japanese pottery, “UTSUWA – tableware”, which makes us feel a joy of the space decorated with, the feeling of touch, and the everyday use of.

To commemorate the 10th anniversary of Kyoto Yamahon, NAKAZATO, turning 84 this year, will exhibit 84 selected pieces of tea cups which are made for daily use. We sincerely hope that this exhibition will bring an opportunity for many people to experience the charm of daily use.
