We are pleased to present an exhibition of works by Yusuke Tanahashi, a ceramic artist working in Gifu Prefecture. His pieces are shaped through a process that embraces the unpredictability of nature—variations in glaze composition, firing conditions, pigment bleeding, and the patterns of crazing. Each step is guided by both intention and chance. Staining the crazing with acorns, rough textures with subtle luster—these quiet expressions emerge through daily experimentation and a deep, intuitive dialogue with clay. After studying in Tajimi, Tanahashi continues to explore form and feeling in his Seto studio. His vessels carry a quiet presence—the touch when held, the stillness when placed—and grow more expressive with use. This exhibition features a wide selection of everyday pieces such as plates and tea utensils. We invite you to experience them and imagine how they might settle into your daily life.
